CORE TOPICS

VDC in a Collaborative and Hybrid Environment

Due to the health restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector sought to adapt to a virtual environment that would allow stakeholders to manage and ensure the proper implementation of their projects. Within this framework, VDC facilitated the adaptation of AEC stakeholders to a virtual environment and collaborative project management. With the lifting of these restrictions and the return to face-to- face work, the lessons learned from virtual work now complement communication between stakeholders, project progress management and decision-making, thus promoting hybrid environments.

VDC in Disruptive Construction

In the current digitalization context in which the AEC industry develops, several changes and challenges have occurred in the traditional design, construction, and operation and maintenance (O&M) processes. VDC allows guiding the efforts of this digitalization process, aligning those involved to the customer’s and project’s objectives, along with production management. Thus, through management based on a collaborative methodology and disruptive technological tools, it is possible to reduce waste, and improve the productivity and competitiveness of the sector.

VDC in the Public, Private and Academic Ecosystem

The Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry requires the cooperation and integration of all stakeholders to increase productivity and overcome competitiveness gaps with other industries. The versatility of VDC application and adaptation to various projects in sectors such as private, public and academic sectors, as well as their multiple stages, allows to achieve better results in less time throughout the entire process implementation.
